Demi_LovatoDemi Lovato (Dallas) is riding the Disney wave — and it’s taking her far this summer. She will release her second album,  Here We Go Again, next week. She’s coming off a huge TV hit just a few weeks ago — the Disney Channel movie  Princess Protection Program premiered to 8.5 million viewers, making it the highest-rated scripted show on cable this year. (She co-starred in the show with BFF Selena Gomez (Grand Prairie).  The teen pop singer starred in Disney’s Camp Rock, as well as the regular series Sonny With A Chance. Review: Jamie Foxx at Austin’s Erwin Center

Jamie_FoxxFrom Austin360.com’s Michael Corcoran:

Frank Sinatra. Barbra Streisand. Bing Crosby. Jamie Foxx.

Those are the only four entertainers who have both won an Academy Award for acting and released a number one album. Although the first three are singing legends known more for their music than their movies – and Foxx is the other way around – the Terrell native made good on his boast Saturday night at the Erwin Center that “we’re not playing around. We’re gonna put on a great show for y’all.” >> Read the full review

Willie on the Road Again

Willie's crew is uploading great photos and backstage news from the summer tour with Bob Dylan.

Willie's crew is uploading great photos and backstage news from the summer tour with Bob Dylan.

Willie Nelson (Austin) is once again doing a summer ball park tour with Bob Dylan, this time with John Mellencamp joining. Here’s a report from the recent Milwaukee show: “Pairing Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson for a tour seems completely natural—this is the second time in five years these two towering American music icons have shared a stage—and yet Wednesday’s Summerfest concert at Marcus Amphitheater showed how totally different they are as performers. Nelson’s known for ambling onstage and embracing his audience’s love with open arms and a mile-wide grin. Dylan sneaks in and stares into the masses like it’s a plain white wall. Nelson plays virtually the same songs every night. Dylan changes his playlist every night and never plays the songs the same way. Nelson radiates warmth and ease, Dylan chilliness and vague discomfort. Which is a long-winded way of saying that last night’s concert was pretty much par for the course for these soulfully craggy, endlessly eccentric singer-songwriters.”
